Pengaruh Ekstrak Etanol Bawang Putih (Allium sativum) Dan Buah Pare (Momordica Charantia) Terhadap Kadar Gula Darah PadaTikus Putih Yang Hiperglikemik

Background: Chronic metabolic disease, indicated by increased blood sugar levels due to problems in insulin production or function, one of which is type 2 diabetes mellitus. The use of natural ingredients such as garlic and bitter melon is another solution in treatment because of the presence of active compounds that have antidiabetic properties. Objective: To examine the impact of administering garlic and bitter melon ethanol extract on blood glucose levels in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) made hyperglycemic. Method: Experimental study with 7 treatment groups, which include negative control (K−), positive control (K+), glibenclamide drug (P0), Garlic ethanol extract doses of 100 mg/kgBW (P1) and 150 mg/kgBW (P2), and Bitter melon extract doses of 100 mg/kgBW (P3) and 150 mg/kgBW (P4). Blood glucose levels were measured after treatment for 14 days. Results: The highest average glucose levels were found in K+ (448.2 mg/dL) and the lowest in P4 (103.4 mg/dL). The Kruskal-Wallis test showed a significant difference between groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Garlic and Bitter Melon Extracts were effective in lowering blood glucose levels, especially at a dose of 150 mg/kgBW of bitter melon fruit which showed the most significant decrease.
